Why Is NA So Bad at Worlds?

We’re over halfway through Worlds 2022, and NA is doing as we all expected. Do you think they will win Worlds? Probably not, but watching them play against some of the top teams from EU, KR, and the rest of the world has been pretty exciting.

Unfortunately for North America, they tend not to turn up for international events such as Worlds and never really do well when it comes to getting out of groups. Historically, NA hasn’t performed very well on the Worlds stage for a long time.

In this Mobalytics article, we’re going to give some insight and compare NA to the rest of the world and break down a few things that will help us build a picture of why NA doesn’t do too well on the big stage.

Before we begin, it is important to note that we will not be biased towards any server and will be as neutral as possible. If you like this article, head to the Mobalytics site for more Esports and educational articles.

5 Reasons NA Sucks at Worlds

  1. Different Playstyle
  2. Lack of Practice
  3. Poor Work Ethic
  4. Retirement Home
  5. Low Server Population

1. Different Playstyle

Every server has a different play style and favours different types of champions. The NA play style is slightly different to the rest of the world, which could be one reason why they do not do too well.

It is known that NA doesn’t really adapt to well to meta sifts and meta changes. Some regions adapt really quickly or are ahead of the curve, while it takes NA teams slightly longer to adapt. This is not always a bad thing, but on an international stage, having any advantage is key.

If it takes NA a patch or 2 to adapt, then they’re going to be behind everyone else as they usually adapt extremely quickly or at the same time as every other server- why do you think NA is behind everyone else?

Something else that could be mentioned is their lack of knowledge/skill in the drafting phase. Often you will see teams draft extremely poorly, or not play to the team comps strengths which ultimately costs them games.

2. Lack of Practice

Now we could go all over the place with this one, but I want to keep it to the point. NA doesn’t play as much ranked compared to other servers. This is mostly down to pros not wanting to play as often, but it is not always their fault.

If you watch any big pro streamer, you can see how much they don’t want to play ranked due to how bad the ranked experience is. There are a few reasons why it is worse in NA compared to some other regions:

  • Lots of remakes

Long queue times and multiple remakes a day coupled together make for a less-than-stellar experience. There are many reasons for a game to be remade, but unfortunately, it feels like most remakes are due to deliberate AFKS.

  • Low-quality games

As of late, many people are deliberately throwing games and running it down in high ELO. This is heavily influenced by betting and max fixing.

  • High ELO “trolls”

There are a lot of players who are in high ELO that will run it down and int certain players when they have them on their team.

While NA isn’t the only server that has these issues, they all contribute to why NA doesn’t play as much. I don’t blame them for not wanting to play when these things affect their Solo Queue experience, but they need to release that they need to play if they want to improve.

For my next point, I need to be pretty vague to not call out any pros or make it obvious who we’re talking about, but in 2022, there were some pretty good game releases. Instead of doing their job and grinding League, some pros were playing other games instead. I’m not saying they can’t play other games, but if it’s getting in the way of doing your job, then it’s an issue.

When a new game was released, we saw many pros clock in ridiculous hours within the first week of release. This mindset is different from NA to KR, for example.

Here’s a video by Markz which breaks down more information on why NA sucks!

3. Poor Work Ethic

This somewhat ties into our last point. However, when we compare NA to the rest of the world, they tend to, on average, play less ranked games and spend less time on Summoners Rift. Korea is an amazing example of hard work and dedication. You will see pros on this server grinding day and night to improve while NA is nowhere to be seen.

If we look at some high ELO players like Tyler 1 on NA, he grinds League day and night, but where are the pros? What are they doing? They’re not playing ranked nearly as much as him or pros on other servers. With this poor work ethic and less time spent playing the game, it’s clear that they’re never going to win Worlds.

There are some outliers, but for the most part, NA just doesn’t practice enough and their poor work ethic is one of the main contributing factors when it comes to this.

Life of a League Pro: SKT T1 Faker

Take a look at Fakers 24 hour schedule. It’s slightly outdated, but just look at how much time he plays or does things surrounding the game.

4. Retirement Home

The North American pro scene is full of old players who have been playing for years. This is a good thing because the old blood can teach the newbies a thing or two. Their experience is valuable when it comes to building characters and faces of the LCS.

But, theres a slight issue with so many players being in the League for a long time: they become washed up. It’s a very common meme that NA is a retirement home for pros, and it is somewhat true. Imports from other countries who have been playing for some time will get brought by NA teams to fill their roster. When they come to NA, they don’t perform as they had been before, and they soon get dumped or stay in the league doing the bare minimum to survive.

In recent times, players who have retired have made their way back into the scene. This isn’t exactly healthy for the strength of North America because they don’t always perform too well when they’re back. However, franchisees in the NA pro scene don’t care about this because it’s good to have big names in their organisation.

5. Low Server Population

North America is huge in size, but the server population isn’t. There is a large difference in numbers between NA, EU and KR with NA having similar members playing ranked compared to much smaller servers around the world (such as EUNE).

OPGG Server Population for NA

These stats were taken from the OP.GG site. Huge props to them for having this data. You can check the data and compare their server to others worldwide.

With so few players playing ranked, it can be hard to create talent because there are less people playing the game. There can be a few different reasons why less people play in NA.

  • Game type

People just don’t like League. NA may not favour MOBA games and prefer games such as Shooters or RPG games instead. MOBA’s are one of the dominant games in KR for instance.

  • High Ping

Nobody likes lagging, and if you’re in NA, you will have a high ping. This is one of the pitfalls of being in NA; unless you live near the servers, you’re in for a rough time.

Ending Thoughts

There are some deep-rooted errors in NA that are costing them the Worlds title. Until NA, LCS, and the player base works on these issues; there isn’t much hope for them ever winning the biggest title of the year.

Welcome to the Mobalytics Predictive Tier List for League of Legends for Patch 12.20!

Ready to hit your ranked goals for League of Legends Season 12? Our panel of experts has you covered for every role and rank.

Below, you’ll find our two League of Legends champion tier lists, one for general ELO (low ELO up to high Plat/low Diamond) and one for high ELO (high diamond up).

Jump to High-ELO Tier List

If you have any questions about our choices or process, ask us on Discord!

Now that you know the best champions for LoL, get the best champions for Teamfight Tactics with our TFT tier list or Wild Rift with our Wild Rift tier list.

We also have a best decks tier list for LoR and an agent tier list for Valorant.

Methodology TLDR: This list was curated in collaboration with our League Experts: Adam ‘Moriarty’ Isles, Dan ‘Aux’ Harrison and Phy, and our Role Specialists: Shikari, Only, Command Attack, and Yen. Unlike most tier lists, we publish ours before, or as a patch goes live, according to the predictions of our in-house experts.

  • Our first tier list aimed at lower elo, specifically gold elo and the surrounding brackets. These picks are effective when utilized in lower ranks and are the best tools for helping you to climb the SoloQ ladder as far as Diamond.
  • Our second tier list is for high elo, aimed at Diamond 2 and above. These picks are curated by our experts and are an indicator of the champions inherent strength when played at the highest level. For a lot of the user base this information isn’t super relevant for their games but provides invaluable insight into the game itself.
  • We made the decision to return to two tier lists after heavily reviewing the feedback from our users. Ultimately we agreed that a general tier list aimed at Plat+ wouldn’t serve a majority of the playerbase and we had missed the mark.
  • Our difficulty system relies on “Skill Floor”, meaning that a Simple champion will yield results faster (around 5-10 games of learning)
  • If a champion has a higher skill floor (Hard or Severe), it will take more time to learn them (20-50 games +) but you will be rewarded with better results over time whereas a Simple champion may fall off as you climb higher.

Expert pick commentary

To see all the explanations for our expert picks and more, head to our tier list feature!

tier-list-feature

Top – Maokai

  • Maokai is back with a vengeance and this brick wall Top laner is one of the best tank picks to go for right now. In lane, he packs a ton of sustain, decent trading power and an unrivalled ability to set up ganks.
  • His W & Q make him the ideal lane to play for, almost guaranteeing successful ganks every time.
  • Maokai then turns into a monstrous team fighting crowd control monster offering peel, engage or whatever it is your team needs! If you enjoy the frontline fantasy, Maokai is a top choice.

Jungle – Bel’Veth

  • Bel’Veth has cemented her place in the jungle recently, especially in Solo Queue. She absolutely thrives in unorganized games, and the Solo Queue chaos suits her perfectly.
  • Her mobility is incredible, she has solid damage in both short bursts and long extended fights and her E is a fantastic defensive ability making her very difficult to shut down.
  • Bel’Veth tears down the Rift Herald and those tanky Dragons with ease, and as the game goes on, she only gets stronger with that permanent attack speed from her Passive.
  • If you have low crowd control and burst damage, Bel’Veth will just stay alive forever, and if she’s got that Void form- good luck taking her down.

Mid – Swain

  • Swain has been having the season of his life ever since that mid-scope update and with still no nerfs this patch, he’s going to remain one of the best champions in the game.
  • Swain is fairly straightforward to play and works into most team comps which is ideal when playing in those lower-ranked games.
  • Swain has solid laning, fantastic team fighting and immensely good snowball potential, becoming unkillable with his scaling health and itemization but also dealing a crazy amount of AOE damage.

Bottom – Miss Fortune

  • Miss Fortune is the most popular and the most successful AD Carry in the game right now. She starts off by being an oppressive lane bully in the early game and turns into a monster with a few items. Her Ultimate alone is enough to tear through teams and if you catch enemies in chokepoints, you can genuinely ace them with this ability by itself!
  • Miss Fortune isn’t just reliant on her Ultimate now though as she was in the past as now with her crit build she also packs a big punch with her auto attacks and Q. This allows her to kite and burst down enemies throughout fights rather than just waiting for her R to be back up.
  • There are not many easier and safer options to go for than Miss Fortune at the moment if you’re looking to carry from the bot lane.

Support – Amumu

  • Amumu Support is just so simple in the way that it’s effective. You’ve got 2 charges on that Q which can setup fights and ganks in the early game and then you’ve got your Ultimate which allows you to lock down 5 enemies in those big teamfights.
  • Amumu is very simple to learn and easy to pick up but his impact on games is without question. As long as you can get into the right position to engage for your teammates and press R, you’re good to go.
  • If you can combine Amumu support with other strong AoE wombo combo picks, you’re in for a treat.

Top – Singed

  • Singed has had periods this season of pure domination in the Top Lane and right now we are definitely experiencing this.
  • He has such an infuriating playstyle which is undeniably effective, and at those higher ranks is really where players are abusing this champion.
  • Singed usually has a way to make it through any matchup. He has good laning power, a fantastic gank setup, and an incredible ability to roam and influence the map.
  • Even if you get behind on this champion, all you have to do is sprint at those high-priority carries and throw them back into your team.
  • Whether you’re proxying waves or camping other lanes, Singed is a very impactful champion in High ELO right now, and has been for quite a while.

Jungle – Elise

  • Elise hasn’t been the most popular or consistent choice in the jungle for a while, but over recent weeks, she’s seeing more impressive results.
  • Elise is an aggressive early game ganking Jungler with the ability to easily punish and dive lanes taking certain players out of the game completely. She’s one of the few Junglers that can dive turrets so early and so easily and at higher ranks people can abuse this every single game.
  • Elise’s solid early ganks translate into a terrorising mid game: snowballing out of control and one shotting anyone who gets close. As long as you’re confident enough in your Elise capabilities, you can end games early enough before you start to fall off.

Mid – Zed

  • Zed’s been a heavily prioritized pick in that Mid-lane for quite some time recently and he doesn’t seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. Zed ticks so many of those High ELO champion boxes.
  • He’s got a super high skill ceiling, fantastic carry potential and the ability to outplay his enemies against all of the odds.
  • Now, if you get fed on Zed at the moment, you have a very good chance of carrying the game, you can pop down enemy carries in a matter of seconds and you can often just get out of there without too much risk of trading 1 for 1.
  • Zed’s mobility, burst damage and overall ability to snowball games by himself make him a very scary Mid-lane pick in the right hands.

Bottom – Draven

  • Draven will always be a fantastic AD Carry to play at higher ranks due to the intense mechanical gameplay that can be insanely rewarding in the right hands.
  • If you can manage those axes and keep on the move whilst pumping out damage and farming efficiently, Draven is just such a great champion and if the meta allows him to be more viable, then he’s always a top Bot lane pick to go for.
  • Draven’s Passive makes him arguably one of the best snowballing marksman in the game as all that bonus extra gold can allow him to spike so early and then just kill his lane opponents in 2 or 3 axes.
  • He’s got self peel with his E, a global Ultimate that help him cash in on that Passive from across the map and of course that huge movement speed steroid in his W as long as he keeps catching those axes.
  • Draven works super well with a variety of supports too making him a solid champion to One trick from that bot lane in high ELO.

Support – Pyke

  • Pyke has always been a real terror in the right hands, but recently he’s started to really come back into popularity. His crazy ability to carry is almost unrivaled from that Support role and his pick potential, his clean-up damage, and his overall impact on games are back at full strength.
  • Pyke has a crazy high skill ceiling so, the better you get at him, the higher the reward is, and at the top ranks this is a huge factor as to his success rate.
  • Pyke has several itemization options, he has a solid range of matchups and if the lane is that bad he can just roam and carry the map instead. If you can pull him off, he’s a fantastic choice to play in high elo this patch.

Format and Methodology

Our difficulty ratings focus on how long it would take to start seeing a champion’s power level on our list in terms of the number of games invested.

Let’s say you’re debating between learning and climbing with Jax (A-tier | Simple) or Rengar (A-tier | Severe) – you’re going to want to go with Jax. Why? This is because Jax has a lower skill floor and would require less games to play at an A-Tier level in solo queue. If you tried to pick up Rengar, you wouldn’t get the full value of A-tier until after about 15 matches of practice whereas with Jax, you would get that full 15 every time you play him.

Another example would be between Nidalee (S-tier | Intense) vs Xin Zhao (B-Tier | Simple). Let’s say you’re about to play your last match before promos and you get auto-filled to Jungle (a role you’re not too familiar with). Even though he’s lower on the list, you’d be better off choosing Xin because you don’t have the required number of games to break the skill floor of Nidalee.

Higher skill floor champions will scale better with time investment – Severe champs will outperform Simple champs in the long run because Simple champs generally have their weaknesses exposed the higher you climb.

So if your question is, “How long until I’ll start seeing results?”, the answer would be harder = longer time, easier = shorter time. If your question is. “Will this champion still be strong as I climb in ranks?”, the answer would be harder = moreso, easier = less so.

Disclaimer #1: If a champion isn’t on our Tier List, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t climb with them. You’ll just have to put in more effort to get similar results as our Optimal, Great, and Good choices for climbing.

Disclaimer #2: This list is meant to evaluate the champions that we believe are best for climbing Solo Queue. Although there can certainly be some overlap, we are NOT looking to name the champions that are the best in pro-play or organized, competitive 5-on-5. This is why champs that require a ton of team coordination such as Ryze, may not be included or ranked highly.

As always, we welcome all discussion and feedback. 5 Reasons Why You’re Not Climbing in League of Legends (Season 12)

There are a plethora of reasons why someone may not climb in League of Legends. Many factors can influence how well you’re playing and how you’ll perform in the game, such as your mood, how tired you are, factors outside of the game and much, much more.

While we cannot help you with things outside the game, we can list some things that you do or don’t do in LoL to help you get back on the climbing bandwagon. Before we begin, this guide is more aimed toward players who are new to League or who are Gold or lower. The tips are more aimed toward those players, but everyone can learn something from this article.

This article is brought to you in partnership with our friends from ONE Esports, check them out for more awesome LoL content!

5 Reasons Why You’re Not Climbing in League of Legends (Season 12)

  1. You Have a Large Champion Pool
  2. You Switch Lanes Frequently
  3. You’re Not Focused Enough
  4. You’re Not Practicing Enough
  5. You’re Playing Too Much

1. You Have a Large Champion Pool

There are five lanes in League of Legends, a dozen different champion archetypes and over 160 champions to date. It is very easy to see why some players have an extremely large champion pool. There are so many different champions that everyone likes more than one champion.

The issue arises when you have too many champions in your champion pool. Just because you like lots of champions, it doesn’t mean you should play them all in ranked. Let’s say you love 25 champions in the game. You will not be good on all those champions compared to someone who plays just 1 or 2 champions.

If you are fighting someone who is a one trick of their champion, such as a Riven one trick, you’re going to get outclassed by them in more ways than 1. Someone who has 100 games on a champion will be better than someone who only has 25 games.

Riven Splash Crop

It is better for you to have lots of experience playing the same champions as you will have a lot more time playing them. Having more experience with a champion means that you will be better on them. You’ll be used to their mechanics, combos and gameplay, which will heavily favour you and increase your chances of winning. Someone who has 5 games on Yasuo will be a lot worse compared to someone with 500 games on Yasuo.

Reduce your champion pool to only a handful of champions in ranked. Stick to those champions and only play them in ranked. When you’re not playing ranked, you can play who you like and what roles you like, but make sure you only play the champions you’re comfortable with and are good at in ranked.

2. You Switch Lanes Frequently

We briefly mentioned it in our last section, but sticking to the same roles is also important. You shouldn’t play all the roles in the game. You should prioritise playing your two best roles and just sticking to those in ranked. Don’t play fill as you will get outclassed by someone who mains that role.

Switch Lanes Frequently Pic

As you can see, most of the games played are in the Support and Jungle role.

In Ranked, you should have a lane that you main and then a secondary role that you’re good at too. You should then queue up as only those two roles: selecting the role you’re best at first. Avoid picking a secondary role that you’re not very good at.

You need to realise that you will not perform well in a role when you either do not play that role or if you do not understand how it is played properly. If you’re facing someone who mains that role, you will struggle a lot, and they will win against you easily.

At the end of the day, many players call “jungle dif”, and that will be your lane dif if you first time a role or if you’re playing on your off role.

3. You’re Not Focused Enough

I think everyone doesn’t focus from time to time in League. Maybe your brain is elsewhere and not in the game. It’s very common, and everyone does it. However, if you’re not focused when you’re playing League, then you should probably not play League or queue up.

When you’re head isn’t in the game, you’re not going to be focused, and you’ll make mistakes that can cost you a lot in the long run. For instance, an early death, because you were not focused, will cost you gold, XP and the enemy will have an advantage over you.

Focus Image

Similarly, you may miss out on pings or seeing the enemy Jungler approaching your lane. If you miss them, then you will die when they gank your lane. It is very important that you learn that your actions have consequences, and things can quickly get out of control if you’re not focusing properly.

I know it can be hard, but if you’re thinking you may be distracted or know that you’re not in a mind frame to concentrate, I would avoid playing Ranked until you feel better. If you’re having an off day, it is possible that you will lose a lot of games and de-rank and demote.

Here’s a separate guide we wrote in the past that reflects on how you can become more focused in LoL!

4. You’re Not Practicing Enough

Not everyone can practice for 5 hours a day. In fact, I wouldn’t recommend anyone to play non-stop League of Legends. With that in mind, I do think that you should try to practice every day or as often as you can without going overboard.

You do not necessarily have to be playing the game to learn more about it. Checking sites like Mobalytics or watching streams of your favourite champions is very good. You can also read up on information such as combos, builds and anything to do with your champion to help you get better at them.

Naturally, some champions will not require a lot of experience to master such as Jax or Malphite, but at the end of the day, if you don’t practice or try to learn more information about your champion- you’re missing out. You will not learn everything about a champion by just playing them, but you can learn a lot by playing, researching and discussing different things for your fav champs.

5. You’re Playing Too Much

The final tip is something that we can all relate to in 1 form or another. It can be quite easy for some people to just play League and do nothing else when they’re off from work or it’s the weekend. However, it is important that you avoid doing nothing but playing League.

Playing ten games in a row or across the day isn’t a good idea because you’ll only be playing well or at an optimal level for a few of the games. When you’re not playing to your absolute best, you will decrease your chances of winning. You will become tired and fatigued and start making mistakes that you wouldn’t usually make.

As you can see, on this day I only played 5 games and no more.

When driving long distances, you need to take a break or else you’ll start to feel tired and start auto-piloting and potentially crash your car. While it’s just a video game and not that extreme, the same principle exists when playing the game. The longer you play, the worse you’ll be playing.

Closing Remarks

If you’re serious about climbing in League of Legends, you must take all of the advice we have presented in this guide and use it to the best of your ability. At the end of the day, someone else who is using this advice is climbing, and you will not be if you choose not to use it. How to Play the Wombo Combo Team Composition

A wombo combo team composition is one of the key compositions that have wreaked havoc on Summoners Rift for years. It is a team composition that allows for a plethora of different champions to be played within. Do you like playing a champion with a large AOE or CC tool that can lock down multiple champions? Then the wombo combo team comp might be for you!

In this brand new series of guides by Mobalytics, we will break down each major team composition in League of Legends. We will list tips and tricks, example champions and how to play as each team composition.

If you like any of the champions on our list, make sure you check out their champion pages on the Mobalytics site, where you can find builds, tips and much more to help you play each of the champions on today’s list.

How to Play the Wombo Combo Team Composition

  1. The Objective of the Comp
  2. Example Champions
  3. Tips and Tricks
  4. How to Counter

The Objective of the Comp

The objective of this team composition is to group as five and use all of your abilities within a short period of time. Due to the nature of a wombo combo team composition, you need to layer your CC to keep the enemy locked down for a long time.

Ideally, you wish to fight in areas of the map that force the enemy to group closer together. They are great at fighting around objectives and inside the jungle, as teams are usually grouped closely together in these areas.

Example Champions

Top lane

Malphite

  • He has an AOE Ultimate that he can use to knock up multiple enemy team members.
  • Getting a 5 person Ultimate can enable your team to follow up and dish out damage or use their CC tools.
  • Malphite’s Ultimate is long range so he can use it from afar to get picks.

Ornn

  • Ornn’s Ultimate has long range so he can use it from afar and out of the fog of war to catch people out.
  • He can knock up the whole enemy team if they’re grouped together.
  • It’s on a short cooldown which can allow him to get picks with his team.

Jungle

Wukong

  • His Ultimate is an AOE ability that can knockup the whole enemy team twice.
  • His W allows him to reposition or engage on the enemy via the fog of war to surprise the enemy.
  • Wukong can dish out a lot of damage and kill squishy champions if he is fed.

Amumu

  • Amumu’s tanky, so he can soak up a lot of enemy damage for his team.
  • His Ultimate can CC everyone on the enemy team and keep them locked down for a long period of time.
  • If Amumu has AP items, not only will his Ultimate lock them down, but it will also deal a considerable amount of damage to the enemy team too.

Mid lane

Orianna

  • Orianna’s W can be used to speed up her allies to enable them to engage.
  • Her Ultimate can be used to CC multiple champions at once. It also deals a considerable amount of damage.
  • Orianna’s E can be attached to her allies which can protect them but also be used to set her Ultimate up.

Vel’Koz

  • He has lots of damage with his Ultimate.
  • Vel’Koz also has an ability that can knockup enemies. If he uses this on an already CC’d enemy, he can extend the duration.
  • He has good poke prior to a fight which makes killing enemies a lot easier.

ADC

Sivir

  • Her W and Q can deal damage to multiple targets at once in a fight.
  • Sivir’s Ultimate can allow her team to chase the enemy and take them down.
  • In the mid and late game, her damage output will be incredibly high.

Miss Fortune

  • Her E is a slow that can catch enemies out who are too far forward. It can also be used to kite and escape the enemy.
  • Miss Fortune’s Ultimate deals tons of damage in a cone.
  • If she can use her Ultimate while the enemy team is locked down, she will wreak havoc in a fight.

Support

Rakan

  • Rakan has 2 AOE tools in his kit: his Ultimate and his W.
  • He can use his E on an ally to close the gap and get closer to the enemy team.
  • Rakan can go in, CC or knockup multiple enemies and then escape with his W.

Alistar

  • Alistar’s Q is an AOE ability that can be used to knockup members of the enemy team.
  • While his W can only allow him to target 1 enemy, it can enable him to knockup multiple targets with the follow-up Q.
  • Alistar is quite tanky and can be even tankier with his Ultimate active. He can soak up damage and use his Q twice in a team fight as it is on a lowish cooldown.

Tips and Tricks

We’ve gone through some champions, and now it’s time to give you some tips and tricks on how to play as the comp.

  • Try and fight in tight areas of the map. Fighting here is great as teams will be grouped closer together. Fighting in the jungle is a good enclosed part of the map.
  • Avoid delaying team fights. This comp relies heavily on going in fast. If you delay a fight, then you will get poked down and potentially be unable to go in.
  • Look where your allies are before going in. While going in quickly is important, don’t go in alone. Make sure your team are nearby and able to follow up.

Check out this video by Broxah which breaks down how you may wish to team fight as Wukong.

How to Counter The Wombo Combo Team Comp

You can counter a wombo combo team composition in a few different ways. The first is to avoid grouping too closely together. It is better to be split slightly apart so the enemy cannot combo you all at once. The second thing you can do is to avoid fighting inside the jungle or around objectives. Teams tend to be grouped inside these parts of the map, so being apart from one another is very beneficial.

Summary

And that about sums up our guide for the wombo combo team. Let us know your thoughts on what you’d like to see next! If you wish to find more useful tips and more help regarding team comps in LoL, make sure you check out our in-depth team comp guide!

5 Champions Who Will Dominate Worlds 2022

With Worlds 2022 just around the corner, we at Mobalytics are super excited to see the world come together and battle it out at the highest level of League of Legends. You may have noticed lately that we’ve been creating lots of content regarding pro play, and it’s been very fun looking at historical pro play.

In our continued series of Esports guides, we will today discuss five champions that we expect to see pick or ban status at Worlds 2022. These champions will either get picked by one team, or banned by the other, and whenever they make it through champion select, they will dominate the enemy and take over the game.

If you like any of the champions on our list, make sure you check out their champion pages on the Mobalytics site, where you can find builds, tips and much more to help you play each of the champions on today’s list.

5 Champions Who Will Dominate Worlds 2022

  1. Ornn
  2. Gwen
  3. Wukong
  4. Renata
  5. Viego

Ornn

The first champion on our list is Ornn. Ornn has and will see a lot of play on the Worlds Stage this year. Ornn is a dominant champion who has seen play in pro play ever since his release.

Ornn synergises well with a ton of different champions. He fits into basically any team comp, and his build is highly adapative. Ornn is a great tank champion who will soak tons of damage for his team, regardless of the enemies team comp.

He is amazing in team fights thanks to the amount of CC his kit includes. His Ultimate is also very good in team fights. He can use it to knockup the whole enemy team if they’re grouped around an objective or in the river.

Gwen

The second champion on our list is Gwen. Gwen is a very dominant champion in both solo queue and pro play. She has been one of the most popular picks since her release, and I don’t recall a time when she hasn’t been good in pro play.

Gwen can dominate the enemy Top laner in lane thanks to her skirmish-heavy play style and excellent early game damage. Outside the laning phase, she is a good split pusher who can apply pressure to side lanes and be a nuisance for the enemy.

Her pick potential is actually quite good too. Her Ultimate deals damage and slows the enemy, which can help her team pick enemies off and start a fight. If she can get on and pick off the enemy carry, her team will easily win the fight.

Wukong

Wukong has been a dominant champion throughout the Season. He has seen play in several lanes, including the Top, Mid and Jungle roles. After his slight rework, he has been, what feels like – pick or ban in League of Legends.

Wukong has a lot of early game damage and can gank pretty much from the get go. As these types of Junglers are strong, he should dominate pro play and snowball his team. Outside of that, Wukong has many tools to set up ganks and fights. His Ultimate can be used twice to knock up enemies and CC targets.

Something that may be forgotten about Wukong is that his build is versatile. Regardless of how ahead or behind he is, he can adapt his build to his team’s needs to be a monster. If he gets fed, he will deal a lot of damage and be super tanky.

Renata

Renata has been a powerful champion ever since her release. Her kit is amazing in pro play, and she has so many tools to help her team and keep them alive.

Her Ultimate is a fantastic team fighting tool that can CC and deal lots of damage to the enemy team. As teams usually group in Pro play, she will be able to CC the whole enemy team at once. Each champion will damage another enemy, resulting in free kills for her team.

She is a very reliable champion and very good from behind. She just needs to empower her allies and keep them alive; they will do the hard work for her.

Viego

The final champion on our list is Viego. Veigo is a new champion but has been dominating pro and solo queue since he was introduced. Veigo will most likely be played in the Jungle role, and it is doubtful we will see him in any other role.

Champions that can gank early and skirmish are very good in pro play. Viego can start ganking early after his double buff clear. Early ganks are essential, so he is a good pick in this regard.

One thing that is good in pro play is that there are a lot of skirmishes and fights in pro play, which means he can take over the body of the enemy champion, allowing for a lot of good playmaking and outplay potential.

Summary

And that about sums up our guide on the 5 champions that we think will be dominating Worlds 2022. What do you think of our list? Do you feel there will be stronger champions we see this year, or do you think we’re right. Let us know! What to Expect in Season 13 Preseason of League of Legends

Season 13 is almost upon us, and Riot has released their pre-season preview. They’ve discussed a new champion, visual upgrades to existing champions, gameplay updates and much, much more.

Before we begin, this is a WIP article, and we will update it as Season 12 ends and Season 13 begins. You should check the video out by Riot as it goes into slightly more detail about certain things. However, here’s the rundown by Mobalytics!

Gain the edge on the enemy and get a great start to the new Season with your free Mobalytics account.

They also created a follow-up post in early October 2022. Here’s the article which we recommend reading!

New Champions

There will be a new Top Laner before the Season ends. Their name is K’Sante, the Pride of Nazumah, who will be a tank.

A Darkin Assassin will be hitting Summoners Rift soon™. This is extremely vague, so there’s no information about them now.

A male enchanter from Ixtal is under development but is at an extremely early stage. No information on them yet, but he is gonna be cute AF.

CGU for Aurelion Sol

Aurelion Sol will be heavily updated after the new champion is released. Riot doesn’t want to remove what makes Aurelion, Aurelion, but they’re making him more like a Dragon.

  • He can now breathe fire, and he can fly more effectively.
  • Make sure you check out the video to see him in action.

ASU for Ahri

Ahri will get an update at the start of 2023. This has been long-awaited, and Riot talked about her getting an upgrade a very long time ago.

Gameplay Updates

In the pre-season, we will see changes to:

Communication

  • They are adjusting the ping system and will add more pings to your ping wheel.

Vision and warding

  • Basic overhaul to the vision system. You will now be able to see where you want to place a ward, which can be handy in hard-to-ward spots.
  • You can now also time enemy wards much more effectively.

Jungle Changes

  • Riot is attempting to make the jungle easier.
  • Sharing your buffs for your allies may leave behind a buff for you to have (all though Riot was pretty vague about this).
  • Pulling camps will be slightly easier and you will not get heavily penalised if you pull a camp wrong.

Chemtech Drake

  • New and improved Chemtech Drake. It now gives you more damage when you’re below a certain amount of health.
  • After laying the Dragon, you’ll be granted bonus damage when below a certain amount of health.
  • The map changes empower the Scryers Bloom, Blast Cone and Honey Fruit. Extra movement speed when running towards a target, the Blast Cone will make you fly a lot further, and the Honey Fruit no longer slows a champion while also granting a small shield.

Jungle Pets

You can now buy a pet that will upgrade over time. There are 3 different pets, with each enhancing your champion in 1 way or another.

  • Noxian Embercat slows and deals extra damage.
  • Ixtali Ixamander provides a shield and additional slow resistance and tenacity.
  • Ionian Cloudleaper grants extra movement speed.

XP and gold changes

  • Solo laners will now receive a small increase in how much XP they earn.
  • Bottom lane champions will receive a tiny bit less XP.
  • The Mid-lane minions will be worth less gold up to the 14-minute mark.

Items

Before we break down the new items, Riot has stated that the names, stats and effects might change.

Mythic Items

Icathia’s Endurance

  • 400 Health
  • 30 Armor
  • 30 Magic Resist
  • 20 Ability Haste

  • Can only hit each target once per attack or ability every 10 seconds.

2022 Recap

This year has been a wild run for Riot. They’ve come up with some great ideas and not-so-stella ones. I won’t go into everything, but let’s just say they’ve made some pretty good champions this year, and they’ve come up with some great reworks.

I think that the new Drakes has been well received overall. I do thank Riot though for removing the Chemtech Drake because it was honestly… A terrible idea. It slowed the game down, it wasn’t enjoyable and I was happy to see the back of it. With that said, the new Drake sounds promising.

My Thoughts on the Upcoming Changes

I’m not going to talk about the new champions because, realistically, there isn’t anything to talk about. Riot hasn’t said much about them. I feel that the Aurelion Sol change is going to be pretty good. It’s nice to see him turning into more of a Dragon.

The Ahri upgrade is going to be cool, but I don’t exactly feel like she needed updating. Is not like she has a bad model or anything, but I’m really indifferent about the change.

For the ping wheel change, I feel that it’s pretty good and it’s about time they added more pings. It will take some time getting used to, but after a couple days it should be fine! For vision and warding, it looks promising. It will definitely help players place some of the harder wards around the map, especially the ones in the bottom lane and around objectives like the Dragon or Baron.

Jungling changes seem nice. If it makes it easier, then sobeit. I don’t think it will take too much skill out of the role. Pulling the camps and making that easier is going to be really helpful especially on players who are not very good at it.

As I said, the new Drake sounds promising and I think it could be really good. The bonus empowerments on the Scryers Bloom and Blast Cone are a nice touch and could be pretty funny.

All in all, I think there are some good changes to the upcoming Season!

That’s About It

Riot hasn’t released much info yet. But stay tuned as we get closer to the end of the Season, Riot will release a ton of extra information.

5 Most Picked Supports in Professional League of Legends

The Support meta shifts frequently in League of Legends. One minute, healing Supports are the best. Next, it’s the damage dealers, and then it quickly changes to tanks. The meta frequently shifts in Solo Queue, and while that is somewhat true for pro play, you will usually find the same champions being picked.

In pro play, you will find teams constantly picking hard-engage and roam dominant champions. The reason for this is that these champions can move around the map fast and help their team. Roaming and team coordination are easier in professional play as they’re all on coms.

In this Mobalytics article, we will list the five most popular Supports in professional League of Legends. The champions are, unsurprisingly, all roaming champions. However, there was a period of time when utility and healing Supports were being picked over and over. But before we begin, if you’re interested in finding more information and stats for any of these champions, why not sign up for a free Mobalytics account!

  1. Braum
  2. Thresh
  3. Nautilus
  4. Alistar
  5. Leona

1. Braum

Braum is the first champion on our list. He is a strong tank who has lots of CC. Post 6, his pick potential is pretty high with his Q and his Ultimate. He can catch out enemies who are mispositioned.

Roaming Supports are very good in pro play. Braum is a good counter to lots of roaming and hard engage champions. He has good pick potential with his Ultimate which he can use to start fights on the ADC when the Support is gone. Also, Braum is a counter to hard engage champions because he can CC them when they go in.

I don’t think it is worth playing Braum in Solo Queue for the most part. There are some champions that are way stronger than him and who rely less on their team than he does. I think he is good in flex or clash though.

Quick Tips

  • Braum doesn’t need to play aggressive 24/7. Wait for the enemy to engage and then turn the exchange around.
  • Always stick with your team, in particular, the ADC so you can protect and peel them with your E.
  • Don’t use your E to block damage in small trades. It’s best to save it for extended or long trades only so you do not run out of mana. Also, keeping your E off cooldown will help you if the enemy decides to commit to a full trade.

2. Thresh

Thresh is a strong champion in both Solo Queue and pro play. Thresh can provide his team with a variety of tools. His Q can pick players out of position, while his W can save his allies. His E can prevent all-ins, while his Ultimate can slow down the enemies and allow his team to follow up or disengage.

Some of the reasons we suggested are why he is picked in pro play, but he also offers his team a lot of extra benefits. For instance, he has good synergy with a lot of the meta AD Carries. He is also a fantastic roaming champion which means he can help his allies.

I would recommend playing Thresh if you want to climb. Although, it is important to note that he is quite hard to master and is very hit or miss.

Quick Tips

  • Thresh has very good roaming potential once he has Boots of Mobility. Look to roam often once you’ve purchased these Boots to get a lead.
  • Bait out dashes or abilities that can be used to dodge your Q to make landing abilities much easier.
  • Place vision around objectives to try and get picks before sieging or taking an objective. One good Death Sentence on a target can turn the game around.

3. Nautilus

We’re coming to the end of this series of guides, and the third champion on our list is Nautilus. Nautilus is a really strong Support that loves to fight and make plays. He is fantastic in both Solo Queue and pro play.

Nautilus is really popular in pro play because of the tools he brings to the table. He has the most CC in the game which helps him get picks and lock down enemies. Post 6, his Ultimate is point and click and he will always knockup the target he chooses.

I think Nautilus is a good Support for anyone who wants to learn Support. My advice would be to check the position of your allies before going in for a Q so you know they can follow up.

Quick Tips

  • Hold on to your Q until the enemy has miss positioned or used their escape ability. Using your Q and missing it will leave you vulnerable to damage and poke.
  • When the enemy is sieging one of your Towers or is trying to poke, use your Q to catch out them out of position while they’re overextended. Picking someone off is a good way of winning a fight or preventing the enemy from taking an objective.
  • While Nautilus is quite slow, you do have really good roaming potential as you have a lot of CC. Look to roam after recalling before heading back to the bottom lane.

4. Alistar

The next champion is Alistar. He is a strong early game Support that loves to make plays to get an early lead. He has insane die potential and can look to dive post 6. With these things in mind, it’s easy to see why he is picked a lot in pro play.

In pro play, Alistar is quite a good champion thanks to his lane pressure and gank setup. He can set up his Jungler by using his W on a minion or using it in conjunction with Flash to close the gap and lock down a target. After he gets Boots, he can start roaming with or without his Jungler to help other lanes.

I think Alistar is good, but there are other champions like Nautilus and Leona that are easier to play and are tankier. His Ultimate is also only really good at diving, whereas their Ultimates are good at getting picks.

Quick Tips

  • During the laning phase, stand close to your ADC at all times. With good positioning, you can threaten an engage onto the enemy even if you don’t intend to engage. Stand next to or slightly in front of them at all times.
  • Look to set up death bushes before a major objective like the Dragon or Baron spawns. Sit inside a bush and ambush the enemy when they walk past with your W Q combo. Once an enemy is dead, take the objective.
  • Once you’ve engaged in a team fight, retreat and protect your ADC. Do not leave them hanging alone against the enemy frontline. Your goal is to engage and then fall back to help them.

5. Leona

Leona is the final champion on our list. If you’re a Support main, you probably have a love-hate relationship with Leona. Eona is an extremely obnoxious, lane dominant Support that is great at roaming and getting picks for her team.

She is good in pro play because of her ability to get picks with her allies. She has good gank setup after level 2 and an even stronger setup after level 6. Once she has completed Boots, she can roam around and take down the enemy. In pro play, teams group close together, which can allow her to get a multi-person Ultimate off. Her E, Q and R can be used to peel for her backline.

Leona is really good in Solo Queue as well. She can constantly look for plays and get picks with her team. In Solo Queue, you need to make the plays for your team to win, and I feel that Leona does that job well.

Quick Tips

  • You can use your AA Q AA combo to quickly destroy wards to deny vision.
  • Try to keep the minion wave even or closer to your side of the map as it will be very hard for you to engage in the early game if your lane is constantly pushing.
  • If you’re unable to get kills in the bottom lane post 6, don’t be afraid to roam and help other lanes. As your Ultimate is a very good tool that can help you snowball, whenever it’s up, try to roam and help your mid lane.

Final Thoughts

That sums up our list on the most picked champions. I’m honestly surprised that there are no utility Supports on the list, but I understand why they’re not as popular as the other champions on the list. Let us know what guide you’d like to see next. 5 Most Picked ADCs in Professional League of Legends

The ADC role in League of Legends has the smallest champion pool of them all. You will find the same champions being played frequently over and over again. In one day of pro play, you may see the same ADCs in the same game.

One of the many reasons why the same AD champions get played over and over again is because of the tools they bring to the table. Furthermore, ADCs are some of the most balanced champions in the game, although each champion has their own strengths and weaknesses.

In this Mobalytics article, we will list 5 of the most prominent champions that get played in professional League of Legends. Before we break down the list, who do you think will be on the list? Let us know below! As always, you can find each of the champions on our list by heading over to our Mobalytics site.

All of the stats are taken from GOL.GG and the filters we are using are for all seasons and worldwide. Huge thanks to them for keeping track of professional League of Legends!

5 Most Picked ADCs in Pro League of Legends

  1. Ezreal
  2. Kai’Sa
  3. Varus
  4. Aphelios
  5. Xayah

1. Ezreal

Ezreal is one of the oldest ADCs to be in the game. He has been around for so long that it makes it clear why so many people love him. He has soo many skins in the game that regardless of what colour you like Ezreal always has something for you.

One reason why Ezreal is so popular in pro play is because he is so consistent and safe. He can be left alone in the bottom lane, and he will be safe while the Support roams around the map and helps the remaining members of the team.

I think that Ezreal is a very good champion for Solo Queue. If you want to learn how to play the ADC role, then Ezreal can help you do that. Firstly, he has a dash, and good poke with his Q, and he can also use his Q to last hit minions too. Overall, he is reliable and quite a safe pick.

Quick Tips

  • Use your abilities as frequently as possible to stack your Tear of the Goddess. The quicker you complete this item- the better.
  • Don’t use your E aggressively unless the enemy has their core abilities on cooldown. Using it aggressively will make it easier for you to get killed if you use it when their abilities are up.
  • To destroy towers quickly and get more gold from tower plates, you can use your W on the tower and follow it up with an auto-attack.

2. Kai’Sa

Kai’Sa is one of the newest ADCs on our list. I remember when she first come out, and it doesn’t seem too long ago. Realistically, it was quite a while back. Anyway, since her release, Kai’Sa has been a fan favourite of many players and pros alike.

She is good in pro play for several reasons. Firstly, she has really good synergy with a lot of the meta Supports. She synergises well with hard engage Supports like Alistar or Nautilus. She has good pick potential and good follow-up, thanks to her Ultimate, which she can use with the help of her allies CC.

I don’t think Kai’Sa is as strong as she once was, but nonetheless, she is a very good ADC, and I think that you’ll do fine trying to climb with her in Solo Queue.

Quick Tips

  • Kai’Sa benefits from mixed damaging items. Buying items that will provide AD, AP and attack speed will give you a variety of evolved skills.
  • Kai’Sa’s Ultimate is a long-range dash that gives her a big shield. Try to reposition yourself with it in a team fight so you can survive long enough to deal a lot of damage.
  • Try and use your Q on the enemy when they’re isolated and not near minions. This will force your Q to focus just the enemy champion which will, in turn, mean they take more damage and be easier to kill.

3. Varus

Back in the day, we used to see Varus all the time. Unfortunately, we barely see him in pro play and Solo Queue. Historically, he was very good, but he isn’t doing too hot nowadays. However, he is still on our list as the third most picked ADC which just shows how strong he used to be back in the day.

Varus has a lot of flexibility. He can be played with lethality or on-hit. He can get picks with his Ultimate, and he is good in team fights. While he does lack a dash escape like pretty much every other ADC in the game, if he builds Galeforce, he can escape all-ins.

I personally like Varus, but he is not very strong at the moment. I would recommend that you play someone who is stronger and has an escape. The current meta makes it hard for Varus to pop off.

Quick Tips

  • Try to poke the enemy down with your E and Q before committing to a fight.
  • Delay team fights while you harass the enemy with your Q. Once an enemy champion overextended, cast your Ultimate to catch them out of position.
  • Never leave your team’s side as you will be easy pickings for an Assassin or Bruiser. Stick with your Support throughout the later stages of the game.

4. Aphelios

The fourth champion on the list is Aphelios. Aphelios is a versatile champion with great carry potential. Aphelios has a plethora of weapons for every occasion. They synergise well with lots of different champions and are currently meta.

In pro play, Aphelios gets played a lot because of their consistency and versatility. Thanks to the weapons, they can be ready for every situation. Similarly, they synergise well with both utility and hard engage champions- which makes them a perfect ADC. Unfortunately, Aphelios does lack a dash though, which can be an issue.

I think Aphelios is a good champion for players who understand their kit inside and out. The learning curve for Aphelios is quite high, and they do take some time to get used to.

Quick Tips

  • Keep an eye on your ammo and what weapon you’re holding. Don’t get caught out with the wrong weapon in a trade!
  • When laning against a melee champion, switch to Severum when they engage. The bonus movement speed and rapid-fire from your main and side weapons will focus the nearest champion while you retreat.
  • Hitting level 2 first is key on Aphelios. To hit level 2, you need to kill the first 9 minions in the bottom lane. When you’re level 2, you could look to engage and go for a favourable trade.

5. Xayah

The final champion on our list is Xayah. Xayah is a strong skirmishing ADC that can dish out a lot of damage quickly. Depending on her build, she can be poke-heavy and amazing in team fights.

Xayah is picked in pro play frequently. In particular, she is picked with Rakan as the two synergise incredibly well together. Even on her own, she does well with Supports that can empower her or engage and look for picks. While she does lack a dash, her Ultimate can help her survive all-ins, and it is a self-peel tool.

I think Xayah is an okay ADC, but I’d recommend picking someone who is a bit stronger for Solo Queue. I would personally only pick her with a Rakan, but she is pretty solid with a lot of different Supports like we previously talked about.

Quick Tips

  • Keep a constant eye on where your Feathers have been placed. If the enemy walks in front of them, snare them with your E.
  • Always keep enough mana to use your Ultimate in case you need a quick escape from a trade. Avoid running low on mana as you’ll be defenceless.
  • Xayah is a weak early game champion. Avoid letting the enemy play aggressive and harass you with auto-attacks.

Final Thoughts

It was obvious that Ezreal was going to be on our list, but did any of the other champions surprise you? Personally, I was surprised Jhin wasn’t on there, but yeah, it’s cool to see some of the “newer” champions already on the list. 5 Most Picked Mid Laners in Professional League of Legends

Professional Mid Laners have the deepest champion pools in the game. They need to know so many champions inside and out, and if they don’t play meta champions, they may struggle a little bit.

Many pro players got into high ELO by one tricking a champion, although many had to give them up when it comes to playing professionally. Something you may have noticed by watching LoL is that you see many Mid Laners over and over again.

Do you know who the most popular Mid Laners are in professional play? No? Let’s break down the 5 most picked Mid Laners in LoL history. But before we begin, if you’re interested in finding more information and stats for any of these champions, why not sign up for a free Mobalytics account!

All the stats in this Esports series of guides are taken from GOL.GG. The filters we are using are all seasons and all roles.

5 Most Picked Mid Laners in Pro League of Legends

  1. Orianna
  2. Azir
  3. Ryze
  4. Syndra
  5. Leblanc

1. Orianna

Orianna has always been a consistently picked Mid laner in LoL. Back in the day, she was picked or banned and saw soo much play. Unfortunately, she hasn’t been played a lot lately, but she is still a consistent champion.

She has a lot of wave clear and can prevent the enemy from pushing her into her tower with the Q and W combo. In team fights, her Ultiamte is very useful and she can use it in combination with other champions engage or CC to take enemies down. It is also a great pick tool.

I think Orianna is good, but she isn’t played too much in the current meta. She is always consistent but not very strong, unfortunately.

Quick Tips

  • Use poke combos to chip away at the enemy’s health bar, but be aware that you’re an easy target for ganks, so don’t go overboard when trading.
  • Play for team fights. Stay in the backline and keep your ball on the champion who is most likely to engage and set your R up.
  • Prioritize farming well and making safe coordinated plays. Orianna doesn’t have the luxury or the survivability compared to other mid laners, so smart plays are important.

2. Azir

The second champion on our list is Azir. While you never see Azir anymore, he was very popular at one time in professional League of Legends. There are many reasons why he was good, but for the most part, it was for his poke and wave clear.

Azir has lots of poke and can bully and harass the enemy from afar. He also has good pick potential with his Ultimate which he can use to push enemies into his team. Thanks to his Passive, Azir can also place a turret that will help his team in a variety of ways including clearing waves or preventing further pushes.

I don’t think there is any point in playing Azir right now. There are much stronger champions in the Mid lane, and champions that are so much easier to play. His learning curve is so high, and the champion is so unique it will be hard for you to do well on him.

Quick Tips

  • Stand at the maximum distance possible when playing against melee champions so they cannot get on to you. Use your range advantage against these champions to keep them low.
  • Use your Ultimate as a defensive tool rather than a tool to engage with if it’s not necessary. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be the playmaker all the time.
  • You can build a replacement tower in the middle lane after taking the tower and then look to roam.

3. Ryze

Ryze is on his eleven hundred and thirty-third rework, and almost all of those were because of his strength in pro play. Funny enough, Riot cannot balance Ryze. he is either really weak or really strong. If they buff him, he gets picked in pro, but if he remains weak, then he doesn’t ever get played.

There are a few things that make Ryze strong. The first is his Ultimate which he can use to sneak objectives with his team. This utility tool allows them to move across large distances very quickly and either take objectives or get picks. After he has completed his first item and once he has some levels under his belt, Ryze’s wave clear is very strong, and it can be hard for enemies to siege.

I don’t think Ryze is a bad champion and I think you could play him. However, you will probably find more use in playing a champion who has more kill pressure at level 6 and has a useful Ultimate.

Quick Tips

  • Ryze is very weak in the early game and needs time to scale. Avoid spamming your abilities until you’ve got your Tear otherwise you’ll be forced to recall early and may miss out on getting this item.
  • Remember that your level 6 is far weaker then most champions as your Ultimate is a utility tool and deals no damage. Play respectfully if the enemy is stronger than you at this time.
  • Your goal throughout the early and mid-game is to scale. Avoid falling behind by playing safe and respectfully until you have an item or two. Once you get into the late game, you’re going to be much stronger and have an easier time playing.

4. Syndra

Syndra is the fourth champion and one of my favourite Mid laners in the game. Syndra is a very versatile and strong pick for pro play thanks to her poke, wave clear and pick potential. A Syndra on the enemy team can be extremely deadly.

She can hold her own regardless of how few or many kills she gets. Her wave clear is quite remarkable even with 1 item, which allows her to total negate any team from pushing. Once she hits level 6, her kill pressure intensifies, and she can start getting solo kills.

Syndra is definitely one of the best champions to play if you want to learn how to play Mid lane. I would recommend anybody to play her if you’re new to Mid.

Quick Tips

  • Delay a team fight for as long as possible while poking the enemy with your Q and W. Having balls placed will also allow you to set up a fight with your E.
  • Try to get as many balls placed before activating your Ultimate on the enemy to increase your damage output and the chances of you killing the enemy.
  • Set up picks for your team by placing Dark Spheres inside bushes and using your E to knock them into the enemy. Stunning them will result in easy pickups for your team.

5. Leblanc

The final champion on our list is Leblanc. Leblanc is a good champion who can assassinate squishy targets that are moving around Summoners Rift alone. However, there is a lot more that makes her very strong.

In pro play, Leblanc has a lot of wave clear which makes it hard for any enemy team to siege objectives. As Leblanc is an assassin, she can pick off targets that are sieging: her W allows her to get in and out and survive and skirmish. She is a very strong champion with a lot of kill pressure throughout the game.

Leblanc is a good champion to play, but you need to be pretty good on her to perform well. Master her ability combinations, and you’ll do just fine. You will need to learn how assassins and mages are played if you want to play Leblanc.

Quick Tips

  • As an Assassin, Leblanc should look to assassinate isolated targets that are moving through the river alone in the mid to late game.
  • Refrain from instantly recasting your W after trading as it may set the enemy up for a good turnaround kill. You can wait briefly before reactivating your W to return to your original Distortion.
  • Leblanc is a very good roaming champion. If you’re not able to get much done in the mid lane, try and roam to help your side lanes out.

Final Thoughts

The Mid lane has the deepest champion pool, and theres not really anywhere you can find out how to play against every champion who is played there… Unless you check out Mobalytics which has every matchup and tips and tricks on how to counter each and every one of the champions on today’s list.
